It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Adrienne Virginia Morgan, who left us unexpectedly on October 5, 2025. She was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and a vibrant spirit who brought energy and kindness to everyone she met.

Adrienne was born on January 27, 1980, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She attended Gaston College, where she completed her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and worked on a nursing degree. Adrienne is survived by her children Christian Morgan, Sarah Shipp, and Kolton Morgan; her parents Debra Gilreath Morgan, Robert E. Morgan (adopted father), and George Dale Smith Jr. (biological father); and three siblings and nieces and nephews: James Cannon (Jennifer, Jasmine, Samantha, Taylor), Carrie Henderson (Terry, Noah), and Amanda Morgan (Mya).

Adrienne’s passion for ice skating began at an early age and became a defining part of her life. She was an active participant in the “Inline Skating International Skating Association” (ISISA) competition team, formally representing the Ice Capades Chalet located at Eastland Mall in Charlotte, NC. Adrienne dedicated substantial time to training and participating in competitions, where she received multiple medals and recognition. Her commitment led her to place fifth in the “Worlds” competition, a remarkable achievement that reflected her talent and perseverance. Adrienne’s skating journey also gave her the opportunity to meet her idols, Scott Hamilton and Kristi Yamaguchi, moments she treasured. She was known for her graceful performances and for encouraging others in the skating community. In addition to her involvement in skating, Adrienne participated in Brownie/Girl Scouts and was a member of Charlotte Chapter No. 1 of the International Order of Rainbows for Girls, a Masonic-affiliated organization dedicated to youth service for young women.

A memorial service will take place on November 15, 2025, at Pritchard Church (1117 South Blvd., Charlotte, NC) at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM.

Adrienne passed away following a period of depression and mental illness. Her experience underscores the significance of seeking assistance during challenging times. For anyone facing similar difficulties, support services are available, and you are not alone. Seeking help reflects resilience, and there remains hope even in the most difficult circumstances. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to The International Association for Suicide Prevention. You can donate online or send a check to The International Association for Suicide Prevention at 6218 George Avenue NW, Suite #1 PMB 3024, Washington, DC 20011, USA.
