Tino Zago, 88, passed peacefully on October 9, 2025 at his New York City loft, surrounded by love and his art. Born in Crespano del Grappa, Italy on May 30, 1937, to Hector and Eva Zago, Tino came to the United States in 1948 and lived a remarkable life as an artist, husband, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and dear friend cherished by all who knew him.

Tino was preceded in death by his father Hector, mother Eva, wife Dolores (née Clause), brother Giovanni, and sister-in-law Carol. He is survived by his brother Roger, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Married on June 15,1963, to his beloved Dolores in Detroit before settling in Manhattan in 1970, their 54-year marriage was a joyful journey filled with art, travel, culture, and unconditional devotion. Theirs was an enduring love that continues to inspire.

An abstract artist for over 50 years, Tino’s many atmospheric landscapes feature his favorite views of the magical Venice skyline, jagged Dolomite peaks, and rocky expanse of the Atlantic Ocean coastline from Nova Scotia. Known for his convivial charm, Tino was more circumspect on discussing his art, preferring to allow viewers freedom to connect to his work. You may view a portion of his work at www.tinozago.com.

An interment ceremony at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan and life memorial in New York City will be held at a later date.
