Alan Bennett Logue

1948 - 2025

Alan Bennett Logue - Al, Big Al, Albie, of Boynton Beach, Florida and formerly Malden, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 18th, at the age of 77, with his daughter Kara by his side & some of those who loved him most also right nearby. It’s never been Al’s style to leave the party early, but he believed life was meant to be enjoyed to the fullest and not merely survived- so while this Irish exit was earlier than any of us who loved him wanted, we know he is very comfortably perched on an eternal corner bar stool, waterside, enjoying a Johnny Walker Black, American Spirit cigarette, and the sunshine on his face, holding court like only he can, proudly sharing the highlight reel of his life which includes family, friendship, fun - and stories that most only hear about in movies. Al leaves behind his devoted, long time companion, Barbara Mahoney, his best friend and brother Kevin Crowley, and his daughters Kara DeSimone (Logue),along with his favorite son-in-law Steve, and Melissa Logue. Al was many things, but being Grampy to his 13 year old grandsons Domenic & Angelo DeSimone was not only his favorite, but something he was made for - he adored them and loved learning of their academic and athletic achievements, supporting their hobbies, and FaceTiming endlessly, deep in conversation about anything and everything they had going on in their lives, doing what he does best: being the everlasting voice of encouragement in their ears. Alan is also survived by his niece Noelle (Logue), husband Michael Merchant, and their daughters Gabby & Marina, his nephew Christopher Logue, and his niece Jen (Crowley), husband Charlie Wright, and their beautiful baby Whitney. The former husband of Donna Angelo, he leaves behind his most trusted partner of all time, but not before giving their daughter the greatest gift - proudly displaying his respect and admiration of her mother for as long as she can remember. Outside of that small circle, most of Al’s family was chosen: a great friend himself - no one had better friends. Between Malden and Boynton Beach, his Roadside/621 crew got him through life, and he couldn’t have been luckier to have the loyal & devoted friendships of Kevin & Wendy Crowley, Paul & Marie DeVincentis, Joe DeVincentis, Bubba Cormier, Linda & Joe Buttery and SO many others that it would be impossible to list individually, but know that the memories you made were everlasting. Al was just a regular kid from Malden who wanted more, everything he did was motivated by being able to do more for those important to him, never for himself, because nothing made him happier than being able to help someone out, or light up the face of someone he loved. He never cared about material things, but lived to enjoy memorable experiences with his friends and family. Al was was never much of a student, but one of the most intelligent well-read men you’ll ever know. He loved numbers, history, sports, music, reading, the USA, a good drink, a nice meal, traveling, and spending time and having fun with the people he loved. Al was the kind of guy who was always there to to help anyone out and everyone knew they could call if they were in a jam, his generosity was unmatched, and he set an unrealistic expectation for what it means to be thoughtful. He was funny, quick witted, could turn anything into a song -and as annoying as it was actually had a nice singing voice-charismatic, charming, handsome, often mistaken for Kenny Rogers, could drive you absolutely crazy, and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. In honor of Al, do someone a favor, tip your bartender/server generously, savor the little things in life, have some fun with your family and friends, and maybe, just for one night, instead of going home, stay for “just one more” (and uber home if you need to!) Services will be private and a celebration of life will be held in the Boston area at a later date.
