Alan Zelman Stahler, age 85, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, at Fountainview Retirement Home in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Alan is survived by daughters Stacy Engels ( husband Emil) of Oakton, VA; Heather Stahler of Canton, MA; and Jaime Smoller ( husband Ken) of Brookline, MA; and by his adored grandchildren Danny, Bradley, and Sam Engels.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on August 8, 1940, to Joseph and Lee Stahler, Alan lived a full and spirited life defined by hard work, family, and an entrepreneurial drive. After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Alan earned his bachelor’s degree from Temple University in 1962.
Alan was a true entrepreneur at heart. He founded several successful businesses, including Stacy’s Fashions, a beloved chain of women’s clothing stores that flourished throughout Massachusetts and Pennsylvania during the 1970s and 1980s. A respected business leader, Alan was a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), an international community of executives recognized for their innovation and leadership.
After relocating to Florida, Alan continued his professional journey by founding Fast Mortgage, applying his sharp business acumen and tireless work ethic to the finance industry.
Beyond his professional achievements, Alan had a deep love for sports and family. In his younger years, he ran the scoreboard during the Boston Celtics’ glory days—a role that reflected his lifelong enthusiasm for athletics. He remained an avid sports fan, sharing his passion and insights with his grandsons, Danny, Bradley, and Sam. Whether offering business advice or cheering on the Miami Heat together, Alan treasured every moment spent with them.
His life was a testament to determination, creativity, and resilience. His influence and lessons will live on in the lives he touched. He will be greatly missed.
