Alfred J. "Al" Mickiewicz, age 98, died peacefully, Friday, November 14, 2025 at Sunrise of Braintree, surrounded by his loving family.

Alfred was born in Chelsea, to the late Walter and Sophie (Szymkowska) Mickiewicz. Raised in Dorchester's Uphams Corner, he was a graduate of English High School. He lived in Braintree for the past thirty years, previously in Dorchester for many years.

Al was employed as a machinist for the former Boston Gear Works in Quincy for forty years and had enjoyed a long retirement.

A devoted member of his faith, Al sang in the choir at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in South Boston and later at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Braintree. He especially shined when the spotlight was on him during his solo performances.

It was rare to see Al without a smile, and he carried a true twinkle in his blue eyes. That sparkle grew even brighter when food was involved, as he had a sincere appreciation for a good meal. Above all, he was a dedicated family man - deeply devoted to his wife and always engaged in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He supported their activities, celebrated their accomplishments, and wanted to know every detail.

Beloved husband of the late Angela B. (Maciejko) Mickiewicz.

Devoted father of Barbara J. Langlais and her husband Charles of Wilmington, Judith A. Cataldo and her husband Stephen of Burlington, Brenda Mickiewicz Dolan and her husband Terrence of Marshfield, and the late Robert A. Mickiewicz, Esq.

Loving grandfather of Jeffrey, Joseph, Andrea, Kelsey, and Connor.

Cherished great grandfather of Jackson, Raven, JJ, Ella, Isabella, and Austin.

Dear brother of the late Josephine Mickiewicz.

Al is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as his grandpups, Lila and XENA.

Visiting Hours will be held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, on Thursday, November 20, from 4 - 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 856 Washington Street, Braintree, on Friday, November 21, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Michael Cemetery, 500 Canterbury Street, Boston.

For those who wish, donations in Al's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org.
