Alline Roberta Burns Singrey
Alline was born in Livonia, Michigan on May 15th 1931 to Robert and Louise Burns. She was an only child and loved ice skating on ponds that her father and neighborhood dads would make in the backyard. Her beloved neighborhood of Rosedale Gardens, and her extended family in Ottawa and New Brunswick, Canada were never far from her thoughts.

Known as "Burnsie", She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1949, attended Albion College and graduated from Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduation she moved to Berkeley, California with other nursing students and began her career at Kaiser Walnut Creek hospital. It was in Berkeley that she became acquainted with her future husband, Hugh Singrey. She retired from Yountville Veterans Home in 1996 after a long career taking good care of others.

In 1972, the Singrey's moved to Oahu, and at first reluctant to leave Walnut Creek, she grew to love the islands and her almost daily walks on the beach of Kailua Bay. Coming from a long line of Canadian sailors and Sea Captains, she loved the ocean and being at sea. Alline also enjoyed hiking the many famous trails and included the Reyes nieces and nephews, and friends who visited in the adventure of hiking Haleakala, the Kalalau Trail, the Alakai Swamp trail and the Aiea Loop trail. Always a learner, she was determined to learn about all of the island's cultures and deeply understand the true history of the islands.

Alline was incredibly independent and modeled for her children and grandchildren a life of service, advocacy and the importance of being interested in others, engaged in the experiences of others. She was a fiercely independent, incredibly generous, insatiably curious, smart and strong woman. While in Hawaii, she went back to school to earn her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Hawaii Pacific University. She was involved with many organizations, knowing the importance of serving others and the community. She served as a Camp Nurse at Tech Trek, a science camp for middle school aged girls, and spent many years organizing Opera a la Carte with the San Francisco Opera in an effort to inspire the love of the art form in school age students.

In her retirement, she traveled widely in search of adventure and learning. She especially enjoyed her trips with her family to Hawaii, Yosemite in the winter, Utah, Idaho and Costa Rica. One could always find a highlighted AAA travel book or Elder Hostel brochure in her pile of reading, as she was always planning the next adventure.

She is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Hugh L. Singrey and survived by her son Paul Robert Singrey, daughter Karin Singrey Hatton and her grandchildren Nathaniel Hatton, Abigail Richards-Hatton and Thomas Hatton.
