Andrea Ellen Vincent (née Sokol), age 84, passed away unexpectedly on October 10, 2025, in Marysville, Ohio. Born on June 7, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the daughter of Vincent and Evelyn Sokol (née Rapp). Andrea spent her formative years in Euclid, where she graduated from Euclid High School in the Class of 1959.
In 1960, Andrea married John Spaur, also of Euclid. The couple began their life together in Mentor before returning to Moss Point in Euclid to raise their family. Their daughter Barbara—affectionately known as Babs—was born during their time in Mentor, and their son Douglas was later born after they moved back to the home formerly owned by John's parents.
After Andrea and John divorced, Andrea pursued a meaningful career in the medical field. She worked for many years as a receptionist and medical assistant at the Thomas Family Practice in Euclid. Later, she joined the Cleveland Clinic as an administrative assistant. Her dedication and professionalism led her to relocate with the Clinic during its expansion into Florida. Eventually settling in Bonita Springs, Andrea embraced Florida life wholeheartedly.
In retirement, Andrea found joy in simple pleasures: caring for her beloved pets, exploring local thrift shops with enthusiasm, and enjoying evenings out with friends over dinner and drinks. A passionate reader throughout her life, she maintained a steady pace of reading one to two books each week—a testament to her curious mind and love of learning.
Last year, Andrea returned to Ohio to be closer to her children and settled into an apartment in Marysville. Even at 84, she remained fiercely independent—cooking most of her own meals and managing daily life with determination and grace.
Andrea will be remembered for her deep love of animals and plants, her unwavering independence, and her vibrant intellect. Her warmth touched many lives across the places she called home—from Ohio to Florida—and her memory will live on through those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving sister Elaine Fuhrman; her children Barbara Johnson (Scott) and Douglas Spaur (Candace); grandchildren Stephanie, CJ, and Zach; nieces Shari Hudock and Heidi Lewis; great-niece Ashley Hudock; and great-nephew Robbie Lewis.
Andrea was preceded in death by her parents Vincent and Evelyn Sokol and her brother-in-law Frank Fuhrman.
A memorial service will be held at Whitehaven Cemetery at 615 SOM Center Road, Mayfield, Ohio, on November 1st at noon. Following the service, family and friends are invited to share memories and fellowship at The Firehouse Grille & Pub located at 2768 Stark Drive in Willoughby.
