Annie Anderson Dillon
February 2, 1929 - October 15, 2025
Annie Anderson Dillon peacefully entered Heaven on October 15, 2025, with her children at her side.
Born on Groundhog Day in 1929, Annie was raised in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. She attended Peace High School and Converse College, where she made lifelong friends and cherished memories. She met the love of her life, Grover Dillon, at a mutual friend's wedding, and after a brief courtship, they married and shared 60 joyful years together.
Annie was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a loyal friend, and above all, a woman of strong faith. A true believer, she walked closely with Jesus throughout her life. One of her favorite scriptures was:
"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also." - John 14:2-3
She and Grover built their home on the 14th fairway at Carolina Country Club, where they spent many happy years enjoying the view, the yard, and their shared love of golf—a passion they passed down to their four children. As a member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church, found joy directing many weddings while on the alter guild.
In her later years, following Grover's passing, Annie made her home at The Cardinal at North Hills. She was quite a bingo & uno player. She was affectionately known as an "OG"—Original Girl—and was deeply loved and well cared for by the staff and community.
Annie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Grover Dillon; her parents, Josh and Mary Anderson; her sisters Polly McNeilly (John) and Josephine Greer (Donald); her brother Jimmy Anderson (Lisa);
She is survived by her children: Rhody Dillon (Dreama), Molly Blythe (Jack), Josh Dillon, and Annie Babb Roberts (Jim); her grandchildren: Luke Blythe (Spencer), Tucker Blythe (Ashley), Tyler Newman (Danny), Hayley Cain (Brad), Anna Sibley (David), Molly Roberts, and Dillon Roberts; and her great-grandchildren: Jack, James, and Katy Blythe; Myers and Lucas Newman; Barnes and Ella Sibley; Milly, Grace, and Jack Cain.
Annie is also lovingly remembered by her niece Cathy Oestreich (Wayne), nephew Bill Fisher (Mary Ann), and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the devoted staff of The Cardinal at North Hills and the guardian angels of Prestige Staffing—Cecilia, Mariana, Kumba, JJ, and Winnie—for their compassionate care as well as Transitions Lifecare in her final days.
Annie will be interred at Edenton Street United Methodist Church in a private family service.
