In Loving Memory of Anthony Robert "Bob" Gasperov
1937 - 2025
We are deeply saddened to share that Anthony Robert "Bob" Gasperov, 88, a longtime resident of San Rafael, and forever a "Real San Pedran," passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025.
Bob was born to Joseph and Pauline Gasperov and was a proud native of San Pedro, California. He attended high school and junior college in San Pedro before beginning a long and dedicated career on the docks. He worked in San Pedro from 1956 until 1995 as a Marine Clerk out of ILWU Local 63 after which he transferred to Oakland where he continued working until his retirement in 2003 from the ILWU Local 34.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army for six years and was also a volunteer firefighter for seven years in Mammoth Lakes. In addition to his work on the docks, Bob was the owner and broker of Resort Properties in Mammoth Lakes where he enjoyed a successful 20-year career in real estate.
Bob had a deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid skier, fisherman, golfer, runner, hiker, and road cyclist. He also was a competitive backgammon and cribbage player.
A devoted husband, father, and friend, Bob was truly one of a kind. Known for his athleticism and remarkable energy, Bob's vibrant personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met—friends, family, and strangers alike.
Above all, Bob was a beloved husband to his wife, Gloria, and a devoted father to his son, Anthony. He provided for his family with unwavering dedication, love, and generosity. For his son, he was a towering inspiration, encouraging him every step of the way to approach life boldly. While most parents teach their children how to walk, he taught Anthony how to fly. His mantra, "Do your best and you will be the best," will always live in his son's heart.
Bob will be missed beyond words but remembered forever with love and admiration.
Funeral services will be private. May his memory be a source of comfort to all who knew and loved Bobby.
