Astley Bertram Stone

Reverend Astley Bertram "A.B." Stone, 86, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, in Lauderhill, Florida. Born on March 22, 1939, in St. Andrew, Jamaica, Reverend Stone led a life marked by service, leadership, and unwavering faith.

A.B. began his distinguished career in public service as an officer and detective in the Jamaica Constabulary Force, where he earned a reputation for integrity and dedication. His commitment to excellence later led him to the hospitality industry, where he served as Superintendent of Services at the Kingston Sheraton Hotel. His leadership extended beyond his professional roles into the broader business community. He served as President of the Small Business Association of Jamaica and was a founding member and Vice President of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica, where his vision and advocacy helped shape the nation’s economic landscape.

His contributions to national development also included serving on the Board of the Scientific Research Council of Jamaica, where he supported innovation and scientific advancement. A.B. was deeply committed to education, serving as Vice President of the Ardenne High School Board of Governors, where his guidance helped shape the future of countless students. He completed several post-graduate programs at the University of the West Indies in Management, Business and Public Administration. He completed his Master's Degree from the Caribbean Graduate School of Theology and became an ordained minister, after years of preaching the gospel across the country.

Known for his eloquence and articulate speech, Reverend Stone was a man of strong Christian convictions. He was affectionately known as "A.B." by those who admired his wisdom and sought his counsel. A walking encyclopedia, he was respected across educational, political, business, and religious communities for his keen insight and vast knowledge. His presence was magnetic, his words impactful, and his faith unwavering.

Reverend Stone was a devoted family man. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Dr. Janice Stone; his son, Andrew Stone; his sisters, Audrey Jones and Enid Stone; and his brothers, Lyndel Stone and Markland Stone. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Cecille Stone; his son, Mark Anthony Stone; his parents, Georgiana and Ishmael Stone; and his brothers, Sonny Stone and Lascelles Stone.

Reverend A.B. Stone’s legacy of service, wisdom, and faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort and strength to those who mourn his passing.
