Barbara Lynn Reid Bennett, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend and faithful servant, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at the age of 81, just shy of her 82nd birthday.
Born on November 27, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, Barbara's life was a testament to love, service, and joy. She lived every day with an honest and faithful spirit, characterized by her tender-hearted nature and a remarkably positive outlook. She was known for her radiant smile, and a fun and adventurous approach to life that made every moment special.
To Barbara, family was the highest priority and the greatest joy. She was the epitome of a supportive mother and doting grandmother, making every school event, sporting activity, and birthday party an absolute must-attend. Her presence was a comforting constant, and her unconditional love created a home filled with warmth and security.
Barbara believed deeply in the importance of family traditions, dedicating time to making special memories together. She treasured these moments and passionately collected pictures in albums, ensuring that her family could re-live those years down the road with nostalgic stories, laughter and love.
She also had a passion for creating delicious memories in the kitchen. She was the family's beloved chef and baker, whose gift for preparing traditional dishes and sweet treats nourished both body and soul. So, it was no surprise that she found immense joy in passing down these skills, patiently teaching her children and grandchildren her treasured recipes. These moments of flour-dusted hands and shared laughter are among the most cherished gifts she left behind. Everyone she knew looked forward to that foil-wrapped package for Christmas that we knew contained her homemade sticky buns!
Barbara's commitment to service began professionally. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Arizona in 1966, followed by her Master's Degree in Speech and Language Therapy from Ohio University in 1968. She worked as a compassionate Speech Pathologist before transitioning her skills to serve as a Business Manager and Bookkeeper at Cigna and The New England, retiring in 2009.
Even in retirement, Barbara remained deeply committed to her community and faith. She was an active board member of PEO and a cherished member of the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. She served humbly as a Deacon, a member of the Prayer Team, and as part of the Grief Group, offering support and comfort to her fellow congregants.
To have known Barb/Granny/Mom was to have experienced unconditional love and true kindness. Her gentle wisdom, bright smile, and the beautiful traditions she nurtured will remain forever imprinted on the hearts of her family and friends.

Barbara is lovingly survived by:
Her son Frank (Christa) Bennett of Santee, CA, her daughter Brooke (Andy) Jagerson of Norco, CA, her grandchildren Brandon Bennett, Dean, Charlie, Holly, Nathaniel, and Abby Jagerson as well as her sisters Nancy Reid of Tucson, AZ and Gale Light of Marysville, WA.
