Barbara S. Pines

Barbara S. Pines died on August 22 in Munich where she resided. Born to Harriet and Newcomb Pines on January 31, 1949 she attended public schools in Farmingdale, NY, graduated from Barnard College and received a masters degree in educational philosophy from Teachers College, Columbia University. She was a teacher, a writer and an editor of educational materials for children . She is survived by her daughter, Julie Harriet Xiaozhen Pines, her sisters Carolyn Pines (sister-in-law Judy Schwartz) and Nancy Pines, her nieces Hannah and Emma Pines-Schwartz, and loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
