It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Benjamin D. Goodband, affectionately known as Ben, at the young age of 41.
He was born on September 18, 1984 in Lowell Massachusetts, and passed away peacefully, surrounded with love on Monday October 13, 2025 in Worcester Massachusetts, under hospice care at Umass Memorial Hospital.

Ben's life was a testament to the power of dedication, craftsmanship and camaraderie. From a young age, he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his family and community, seamlessly blending his work and passions. Right out of college, Ben was proud to land a job with Milton CAT in which he worked tirelessly on their massive equipment and gained unparalleled knowlege early on. He then began his career in the family business at Five Star Towing, where he effortlessly dedicated himself by providing the best possible service. As a highly skilled Automotive and Diesel Mechanic and a Licensed CDL Driver, Ben easily made friendships that lasted his entire lifetime. His hands were perpetually busy but never idle, always crafting, fixing and lifting the spirits of those around him.

His interests were as diverse as they were vibrant, revealing a man who embraced life with infectious enthusiasm and boundless energy. Whether dazzling friends at classic car shows in his '52 Ford, speeding across motocross tracks, carving through snow on his snowboard and snowmobile, or feeling the thrill of racing drag cars. Ben lived his life fully and fearlessly. He found great joy in fishing out on the water, teeing off with friends, catching some rays while relaxing on the beach, and even trying his hand at the roulette tables in bustling casinos...hoping that lady luck would be on his side.

A notable alumnus of Montachusett Vocational High School, Ben was honored with the Golden Wrench Award, reflecting his dedication and mastery in automotive mechanics.
His love for learning and desire to help extended beyond the classroom and shop, where he consistently lent a hand to friends in need.

Ben's legacy is carried forward by his loving and supportive parents, Gary and Jane (Brenner) Goodband, his devoted brother and sister-in-law, Adam and Etta Goodband and his cherished fiance, Courtney Callahan. Together with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends and all of their children who will forever treasure the memories of dear "Uncle Benny" for his kindness, laughter, compassion and zest for life. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents Max and Jeannie Brenner, George and Mary Ellen Goodband, his admired uncle Cliff Goodband, and Courtney's adoring mother Mary Jane O'Brien. Their memory was ever-present in Ben's life, guiding his generous heart.

In honor of Ben's remarkable life and enduring spirit, a private memorial service will be held for his family on Sunday October 26, 2025 at Miles Funeral Home in Sterling, Massachusetts. A Celebration of Ben's Life will follow at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club in Boylston, Massachusetts from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, where all who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ben's memory to the Monty Tech Vocational High School Automotive Program, ensuring Ben's passion in automotive mechanics continues to inspire future generations.

Though Ben's presence will be deeply missed, his vibrant spirit touched the lives of so many and he will never be forgotten.
Godspeed Benny, we love you.
