Bette Lou Fletcher, 91, of Hope Hull, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, after a lengthy but courageous journey with dementia. Born on February 22, 1934, in Miami, Florida, Bette Lou lived a long and spirited life, defined by her humor, resilience, and unmistakable zest for the everyday.

From her earliest days, Bette Lou was a firecracker who hit the ground running. Throughout her life, she drew people in with her sharp wit and ability to find humor even in the most difficult moments. Her sense of humor, which never truly left her, became one of her most defining characteristics and a gift she readily shared with family and friends.

Though she enjoyed many quiet pastimes, Bette Lou could often be found playing solitaire or spending time connecting with others on Facebook, embracing both tradition and technology in her own special way. These simple joys brought her comfort and entertainment, while also keeping her connected to the world around her.

Above all, Bette Lou adored her family, especially her children, Leigh Ann Fletcher-Archer and James Stephen Fletcher (Jim), with whom she shared a close and loving bond. She is survived by Jim, Leigh Ann, and Leigh Ann’s husband Shane Archer, all of whom cherish the many memories of laughter and love that defined their relationships.

While Bette Lou’s presence in the larger community was quiet, her impact within her family and personal circle was profound. She lived authentically, cherished what mattered most, and found joy and amusement in the little things that many might overlook.
