Obituary for Betty Louise Fitzwater (Bailey)
Betty Louise Fitzwater (Bailey), 75, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
Betty was a loving, spry soul who brought warmth and kindness to every person she met. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Beatrice Bailey, born February 8th, 1950. Born and raised in Canton, she graduated from Canton High School before marrying the love of her life, K. LaRue Fitzwater, on November 27, 1971. Together, they built a life centered on love, laughter, and family.
Betty's career reflected her dedication and compassion for others. She spent more than 25 years working for Agway before taking on leadership roles with Avon as a Regional Manager and later as General Manager of Landon's Cedar Ledge. She went on to serve with the Area Agency on Aging and later joined the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. Betty eventually retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a State Park Office Manager — a role that allowed her to enjoy the beauty of nature and connect with people, two things she loved deeply.
Above all, Betty's greatest joy in life was being a mother. Her two sons, Jason and Kyle, were the light of her world. The title "Mom" was one she wore with pride and love, and her devotion to her family was unwavering.
She is survived by her sons, Jason Fitzwater of Baltimore, MD, and Kyle Fitzwater of Baltimore, MD; her sister, Brenda (John) Mott, brother in laws,Donny (Lynette) Fitzwater and Alden (Rosemary) Fitzwater; several nephews and nieces Reeve (Melanie) Mott, Nick Mott, Adam (Genna) Mott, Tricia Sexton, Lucas (Madeline) Bailey and Paige Bailey, and two very special people in her life, Eriksen Alarcon-Rivera and Natalie Sereda, both of Baltimore, MD.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, K. LaRue Fitzwater; her brothers Robert (Bob) Bailey , Bradley Bailey. Brother in law, Kermit Fitzwater, sister in laws Audrey (Fitzwater) Johnson and Norma Jean (Fitzwater) Schmelzle.
In keeping with her generous and caring nature, Betty chose to help future generations by donating her body to medical research to Anatomy Gifts and other items to Infinite Legacy.
Her warmth, humor, and endless compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A Celebration of life and internment will be planned at a later date at the convenience of the family.
