Carl Allen "Big Poppa" Eastis, age 71, passed away on October 6, 2025, in McCalla, Alabama. Born on October 1, 1954, in Bessemer, Alabama, Carl lived a life marked by dedication to service, deep family ties, and a passion for the things he loved most.
Carl served as a Birmingham Police Officer for 20 years, committing two decades of his life to protecting and serving his community. His work left a lasting impact on those around him and reflected his steadfast sense of duty and integrity.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Melissa Stafford and Lesley Hatfield. Carl was also a proud grandfather to three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His Best Friend , Ex-wife and caretaker Jerri Eastis, held a special place in his life and stood by him through the years.
Outside of his professional life, Carl found joy in the roar of engines and the thrill of the game. He was an avid Alabama football fan—cheering on the Crimson Tide with unwavering enthusiasm—and had a lifelong love for old cars and motorcycles. These passions brought him happiness and connected him with others who shared his interests.
