Born in Dorchester, MA on May 1, 1946, Carolyn attended Burlington High School, where she met the love of her life, Robert, "Bob" Snook. Carolyn graduated in 1964, and the two were married June 1, 1968, beginning a lifetime of devotion and partnership that spanned more than 57 years.
Carolyn and Bob began their life together in Burlington, Massachusetts, before moving to Fort Collins, Colorado, in 1974. After devoting her early years to raising their daughter, Carolyn began working in retail at Montgomery Ward, the Hallmark store, and finally Yellow Sub, the beloved local sandwich shop. She took genuine pleasure in talking with customers, greeting every person with her warm, familiar smile.
A true city girl at heart, Carolyn embraced Colorado life with Bob, who introduced her to skiing, camping, fishing, and exploring the mountains. While not as avid an outdoorsperson as Bob, she happily joined him on adventures and especially grew to enjoy camping while he fished, never without their beloved dogs Annie and Lucy. She even took up cross-country skiing and, for a brief time, helped him raise rabbits in their backyard. With Bob's work as a schoolteacher, the family often returned to Massachusetts in the summers to enjoy time with loved ones and spend time at her family's Cape Cod beach house, giving them the opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds, from the Rocky Mountains to the ocean shores.
Carolyn enjoyed talking with people and often spent time on the phone with neighborhood friends. Later in life, influenced by Bob's steady faith and constant prayers for her, she invited Jesus into her heart which changed her deeply. She began attending church with Bob, joined women's Bible study groups, volunteered, and formed close, lasting friendships in her faith community.
In 2017, Carolyn and Bob, along with their daughter's family, chose to combine households. With Carolyn's increasing health challenges, having family close was a blessing. She treasured daily life with her daughter, son-in-law, and especially her two grandsons, who greeted her and Bob each afternoon with joyful shouts of, "Hi Grandpa! Hi Grandma!" She also took joy in watching the abundant wildlife from her bedroom window; deer and elk, foxes and ospreys, as well as her grandboys playing in the pool or on the trampoline. There was always something to catch her eye.
As Carolyn's health declined, Bob remained a dedicated caregiver, tending to her daily needs. She was strong and resilient, continually overcoming challenges. But after Bob's unexpected passing on August 25, 2025, the loss of her partner of more than sixty years took a profound toll. Though she longed to stay for her family, her body grew weary, and she went home to her Lord and Savior on November 16, 2025. We trust she has been reunited with Bob, rejoicing together in the presence of their Savior, whole and restored.
Carolyn's faith sustained her through many difficult years, and we take comfort in the promise of Revelation 21:4:
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
She would want all to know that the greatest inheritance is the one found in
1 Peter 1:3-4:
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade."
Carolyn is survived by her daughter Nicole Bargren of Loveland, CO; her husband Andrew; and their sons Ryden and Tanner. She is also survived by her sister Judy Lichtenfels of Lakeville, MA.
The family will honor Carolyn's memory with a private gathering for close friends and family.
