Catherine Crocker

Catherine Ellen Stokes Crocker, 68, passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 25th in her bed at home in Vancouver, Washington.

Cathy was born January 28, 1957 in San Francisco, California to Fred and Vannie Stokes. After graduating from Novato High School, she attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. She would later earn her MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, an accomplishment that brought her immense pride.

After a brief time teaching in San Francisco, Cathy followed a new path and got a job with Chevron giving refinery tours. This kicked off a career with Chevron that led her to make lifelong friends, live unforgettable experiences and travel the globe.

Throughout her life, she took every opportunity to explore the world. Through business and personal travel she visited 6 of the 7 continents (North America, South America, Europe, Oceana, Asia and Africa) and all 50 states. Cathy saw wonders in all corners of the Earth, from the Great Wall of China and the safaris of Africa to the bike paths and calm waters of Sunriver, Oregon.

Her other passions included wine tasting, cooking, gardening and singing. In everything she did, she found community. She always found time to stay connected to lifelong friends from the Sunset Court families to her wine tasting group and Chevron friends to the Brookwood and Crocker Highlands ladies and later in life her book club. And that only scratches the surface of the lives that she touched and lives that touched her.

Cathy is survived by her dad, Fred, her brother, Bruce, her children, Scott and Laurel, and her grandchildren, Raymond and Leonard . She is looking down on us with her mom, Vannie, and loving dogs Alex, Simon and Zoe.

Cathy found community and spirituality at St. John's Episcopal Church in Oakland, which is where her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday December 6 at 1PM. The service will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend.
