Catherine (Cathy) Mary Muir
February 4, 1941 – October 10, 2025
Cathy was the third child of Judson and Lillian Anderson, born in St. Paul, Minnesota on February 4, 1941. She died peacefully, surrounded by family on October 10, 2025, in her home of 52 years on Holley Point Road in Navarre, Florida.
Cathy enjoyed and pursued adventure throughout her life. She earned an Education degree and certificate at the University of Minnesota. Combining her love of travel and education, she taught abroad in Okinawa and Puerto Rico, as well as Minnesota and Florida. When teaching at the elementary school on Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico, she met William (Bill) Muir, a weather officer in the Air Force. They married in 1971. After moving to Navarre, Florida, they built a geodesic dome house that hosted many family gatherings. The Hippocampus was docked in front and many excursions set sail from there.
Cathy left teaching to establish Navarre Marine with her beloved husband. That business thrived for 25 years.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 54 years, William Muir, and Bill’s daughters, Lisa Muir and Cheri Hofmann-Muir, of Navarre; sons, Skip Muir of Santa Cruz, CA and Stephen Muir of Vancouver, WA; sister Judith Fawcett of Ashland, OR; sister Janet Cantley of Mesa, AZ; and a number of nieces and nephews. Cathy is preceded in death by her brother, Judson Anderson and sister T. Gail Gardner. She leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Cathy’s life was rich with family, love and an adventurous spirit. That memory and legacy lives on in all of us.
