Chadd Barney

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Chadd Barney. He passed away on October 7th, 2025, and went immediately into the arms of his Lord and Savior.

Chadd was born December 1, 1976, in Grant County to Lisa and David Barney. He married the love of his life Stephanie Brickner on April 16, 2004. He graduated from Southwood High School in Wabash County in 1996.

Chadd had a love of the outdoors and sports and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He later loved following and attending sports events involving his children.

Chadd is survived by his wife and parents; a sister, Alison (Randy) Pershing; daughters Rylee, Macy, and Lilly; stepdaughter, Lexi Brickner; sons Braden and Dalton; goddaughter Ava Parsons; nieces and nephew; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Chadd's constant goldendoodle companion, Rose or affectionately known as Rose Petals by Chadd.

Chadd had a heart of gold and a ready smile for everyone. He had a very positive effect with friends and relatives as he battled Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, since December 31, 2023, and did this with a true warrior's spirit led by his Mighty King. He trusted Jesus in the last years of his life and chose to be baptized on September 21, 2024, as a public profession of his faith and newness of life.

Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm on Saturday, October 11th at LaFontaine Christian Church, 202 Bruner Pike LaFontaine, IN, with a celebration of life service following. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to God Behind Bars or Christmas Behind Bars.
