Charles Grant “Opie” Butler, II (40), passed away on September 12, 2025, in Eustis, Florida. Born on June 24, 1985, in Orlando, Florida. Mr. Butler lived a life marked by resilience and unmistaken individuality.
Known as “Grant” by his family and “Opie” by his friends, he met life’s many trials with an unyielding spirit. After becoming a quadriplegic due a motor vehicle accident on September 12, 2007, he refused to let his circumstances define him; his strong will was undiminished. In every room he entered and every conversation he joined, his presence was felt; and he was unapologetically himself. His vibrant personality left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Mr. Butler brought a certain energy and enthusiasm to everything he did. He was fascinated by Bigfoot lore, political conspiracy theories, and he enjoyed playing competition billiards with his pool cue that he customized himself - he was just as likely to sink the eight ball as he was to launch into an animated debate on the elusive sasquatch.
He is remembered with love by his daughter, Cheyanne Butler, his sisters, Dawna Hosier (Chris) of Sorrento and Stacey Bowcott (Glenn) of Eustis, and his father, Charles Butler (Donna) of Apopka, his lifelong friend, Billy Jones, as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, along with so many friends and acquaintances. The memories of his mother, Sharon Corder, his maternal grandparents, Billy and Elizabeth (Joann) Barnett, and his paternal grandparents, Otis and Bonnie Butler, all live alongside him now in peace.
May the memory of Charles Grant “Opie” Butler, II bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting tribute to someone who lived life on his own terms.
The family will have an intimate Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 1, 2025 and ask that in lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to a Florida Prepaid Education Account for his daughter, Cheyanne G.
