Charles "Chuck" Eugene Beck
Charles Eugene Beck, Chuck to friends and family, passed away on November 17th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones after suffering a fall in his home on November 11th.

Chuck was born on January 26, 1952, in Long Beach, California. The Beck family called Westminster, CA home for Chuck's early life. He left California for Woodland, Washington where he began his lifetime career as a mechanic. Soon after his move to Washington he purchased a house in southeast Portland Oregon, a place he would call home for the rest of his life. Chuck continued his education in mechanical trades, becoming a master diesel mechanic, earning him a position with School Bus Services. He then moved on to work for Ryder Systems School buses followed by First Student, where he was awarded the Golden wrench by the state of Oregon. After much career success he would move on to become the Mechanical Supervisor of Beaverton Public School District for over 30 years.

While Chuck was well known for his mechanical skills, we will always remember him for his kindness, generosity and deep love for his family. He made a point to attend sports events, recitals, concerts, family parties, and was often planning a trip with his life partner of 36 years, Kris and his sisters. He loved soaking up as much time as he could with nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Chuck loved spending his weekends catching up with family and friends over breakfast at his favorite diner. He would most often be found in the basement garage working on a project of some kind be it stained glass, wood working, or making something that made someone's life easier - planter boxes, frames, coffee tables, nightstands and more. If someone needed advice, something to be fixed, or a helping hand, Chuck was always happy to be there for his loved ones to lean on.

Chuck was predeceased by his father, Cecil Beck, his brother Roger Beck, and his brother-in-law Ron Holloway. He is dearly missed and survived by his mother Mary Lucile Beck, his sisters, Sharon Holloway, Peggy Walters, Linda (Marc Arnold), Barbara (John Sablan), and Lisa (Jim Campos), his son's Benjeman Beck, and Nathan Beck-Akin (Taylore King), his life partners Kimi (Patrick Boylan), and Kris Akin, his children by heart Dustin, and Julie, his grandchildren by heart Taylor, Jade, Wyatt, Everrett, Sammie, and Zach, his great grandchildren by heart, Adison, Carson, and Liam, his nieces, and nephews Richard, Kim, Jessica, Devin, Gavin, Casey, Matt, Ryan, and Shannon, and many many friends.
The family is holding a Last Breakfast with Chuck celebrating his life on October 19th, 2025 in the Blackberry Hall at McMenamin's Edgefield from 10am to 12:30pm. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to wear color and business casual attire.
