Send Flowers
God blessed the broken road that brought us together and we were made one in Christ Jesus.

Charles Dana Duran Jr. (Chuck) of Neptune Beach Florida passed away peacefully at home on October 8th, 2025, under the care of his loving wife Kelly Forrest Duran. Chuck passing was preceded by his parents, Charles and Dorothy Duran, and survived by his wife Kelly Forrest Duran, Mother-in-Law Sheila Forrest, sister Dorothy Breland (David), brother Dana Duran, Sister-in-law Liana Hoodless (Andy) and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews, friends, and Church Family.

Known affectionately as Chuck, (the Maestro Duran) he was a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend; a man of faith who gave much to his church, community, students, family, and friends. He had a lifelong love of music, everything from praise to blues. He attended Fletcher High School and later graduated from Jacksonville University with a bachelor’s degree in music business. He had a 27-year career as a band director with the Duval County Public Schools, including DuPont Middle School, Englewood High School and retired from Twin Lakes Academy Middle School. Chuck played trumpet professionally and was a member of the St John’s River City Band and entertained many as a member of the Under The Bus Blues Band. He was a lifelong member of The Florida Bandmasters Assoc. Together with Kelly; they attended First Christian Church of the Beaches; Chuck had a deep commitment to serving on the worship team and had a long history of playing music in Churches around Jax. Chuck loved the Lord, was an incredible husband, had a kind and gentle spirit , a strong work ethic, an avid gardener, an animal lover and of course a legend in the Beaches Surfing community. The world lost a great light when we lost Charles (Chuck) Dana Duran. His light will forever be felt in the hearts of those who knew him and will forever live in the children he taught and inspired; in them his music will play on.

Service will be held at First Christian Church of the Beaches 2125 Ocean Front, Neptune Beach, FL 32266
