Charles Delevan Lowery

Charles Delevan Lowery passed away peacefully on his 91st birthday, September 20, 2025, in San Luis Obispo, California. A devoted husband, brother, and friend, Charles lived a life marked by love, dedication, and accomplishment.
Born in Portland, Oregon, Charles was the son of the late Charles and Harriet Lowery. He grew up in Spokane, Washington, where he attended Gonzaga Preparatory School. He later earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Eastern Washington College. Charles proudly served in the US Navy in for two years.
In Spokane, Charles met the love of his life, Darlene Bryan. They married on August 29, 1959, in LaCrosse, Washington, and shared 66 wonderful years together.
Charles built a distinguished career with Sunkist Corporation, where he served as Sales Promotion Manager in both the US and International Countries. His work took him around the globe, and he often traveled with Darlene by his side. Together they enjoyed exploring new places, whether on business trips, cruises, or hiking excursions. Charles enjoyed photography, taking many beautiful photos on their travels.
The couple made their home in Westlake Village, California, and also cherished time at their second home in Cambria, California, where they enjoyed the ocean, breathtaking views, and local wine country. Golfing with friends was a favorite pastime also. Charles had a lifelong passion for building and designing electric train sets, spending countless hours working on his tracks, buildings and landscapes.
Charles was a devout Catholic, attending mass regularly at St. Judes Catholic Church in Westlake Village and Old Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Cambria. Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene, of Westlake Village; his sister, Carolyn Lowery of Mexico; brothers-in-law Rodney (Jeannie) Bryan and Roger (Peggy) Bryan of LaCrosse, Washington; and several nieces and a nephew.
A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Judes Catholic Church in Westlake Village on Thursday October 9 at 1:00 p.m. with luncheon reception to follow.
