Charlotte Jean Sinclair passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025 in Central Oregon at the age of 86. Charlotte will be remembered for her intelligence, integrity, generosity, and playful sense of humor.
Born on December 10, 1938, in Moline, Illinois, Charlotte moved to the California Bay Area with her parents and twelve siblings at the age of 18. While working as a comptroller at California Filter Company, she met John Sinclair, an engineer. They married in 1966 and, in 1968, settled in Corvallis, Oregon, where they raised their two children.
Charlotte practiced as a CPA for over forty years. She was known for her personable manner and gift for explaining complex matters clearly. She worked in partnership as a CPA in Corvallis for almost 20 years. After her husband John passed in 1993 she moved to Lake Oswego where she established her own successful solo practice. For Charlotte, being a CPA was not just a career; it was a passion that perfectly combined her love of solving puzzles with her deep desire to help people.
Deeply committed to community service, Charlotte served on the boards of many charitable organizations including: Altrusa Club, the Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence, the Corvallis Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Rotary club, and more. She was also the Treasurer of the local American Youth Soccer Association and the President of Corvallis United Soccer Club. She also joined and volunteered her finance expertise with the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Willamette Falls.
Charlotte loved driving vintage convertible sports cars, skiing, and learning to golf with John. She enjoyed travel with her kids and her friends, adored spending time with her grandchildren, and was a patron of the Oregon Symphony and Portland Opera. A devoted friend, Charlotte most of all loved celebrating life with good company and laughter.
She is survived by her daughter Peggy Sinclair and son-in-law Brian Kerr; their sons Duncan and Archer; her son Sean Sinclair and daughter-in-law Sami; and their daughters Hannah, Sadie, and Amelia. Her husband John passed away in 1993. She is also survived by 11 of her 12 siblings.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Willamette Falls (710 6th St, Oregon City, OR 97045) on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome.
