Cheryl Jo Durham
February 8, 1945 - September 18, 2025
Cheryl Jo Durham passed peacefully at her home in Everett, as she wished, on September 18, 2025. Cheryl is now in heaven, free from the physical challenges she faced in recent years. For that we are grateful — though deeply saddened, as she will be missed by many.
Cheryl was known for her high energy, dynamic personality, and natural leadership. Her successful real estate career was one of her greatest sources of pride, enabling her to create countless wonderful experiences for her family, friends, colleagues, and clients. It also gave her the independence to face her illness on her own terms and in the manner she chose.
As President of the Snohomish County Board of Realtors for two consecutive years (one is enough for most), Cheryl gave tirelessly of her leadership, time, and vision to the real estate community. She was tough, hardworking, and relentlessly focused on making things go right despite challenges — qualities that defined her throughout her life.
Born on February 8, 1945, to Gordon and Marguerite Harris, Cheryl was the second of four children and grew up in the Meadowdale/Lynnwood area of Snohomish County. Shortly after graduating high school, she married David S. Pittsenbarger. Together, they started a family and had two sons, Daniel S. Pittsenbarger and Thomas Wayne Pittsenbarger. When David passed away on March 29, 1976, Cheryl raised her sons on her own for several years before meeting and marrying Lloyd Durham.
Cheryl and Lloyd shared a deep love for life and for each other. After a few years running a 200+ acre farm near Othello, Washington, Cheryl discovered her true calling in real estate. They later settled on a five-acre property north of Arlington, where they spent many happy years together. Cheryl always provided her family with love, activities, and a vision for what was going to happen on any given day
After Lloyd's passing on September 24, 2004, Cheryl faced the world with her characteristic strength and determination. She built a thriving business and a beautiful new life in Everett, where she took pride in her award-winning yard and active lifestyle. Even as her health declined over the past twelve or so years, she remained spirited, independent, and strong minded.
Cheryl is survived by her sons, Dan and Tom Pittsenbarger; her sisters, Janice McWherter and Barbara Sturdevant; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
