Send Flowers Plant A Tree
In Loving Memory of Cheryl A. Wood (Cheri)

After a courageous five-year battle with cancer, Cheryl A. Wood—affectionately known as Cheri—passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025. She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, loving sister and aunt, loyal friend, and passionate dog lover.

Cheryl leaves behind her beloved sons, Jeffrey and Derek Green, and her cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Jonah, and Josiah Green. She is also survived by her two brothers, Bobby and Jeff; her sister, Lori; and several nieces and nephews who adored her. Her faithful fur babies—Shyloh, Josie, Danni, Bubba, and Tootsie—were never far from her side and held a special place in her heart. Cheryl was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth; her father, Robert; and her sisters, Lydia and Beth.

Cheri dedicated much of her career to Fox Hill Nursing Home, where her work ethic and compassion touched many lives. But her true calling was working with dogs. She found joy and peace in long nature walks with her pups and pursued her passion by becoming a Certified Dog Trainer through Animal Behavior College in 2018. In 2020, she earned certification from the AKC as a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and also became a certified therapy dog trainer. She generously volunteered her time with Healers with Halo’s, bringing comfort and healing to others through her work with therapy dogs.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Our Companions Animal Rescue, a cause close to Cheri’s heart.

A celebration of Cheri’s life will be held at a later date, with details to follow. She was an avid UCONN Huskies and Miami Dolphins fan, and her sharp wit and sarcastic sense of humor will be deeply missed. Above all, Cheri will be remembered for her boundless compassion, her generous spirit, and the love she gave so freely to both people and animals.
