With heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of our cherished Christopher Richard Burk on September 7, 2025. Christopher captivated our hearts and touched the lives of many with his kind and inclusive spirit.
Christopher was born in Queens, New York on January 27, 1975, but raised from the age of two in Ramsey, New Jersey. In his early years, his passion for music led to excellence in piano, drums, trombone, and guitar. His Ramsey High School Music teachers described him as having perfect pitch. This was displayed in his enthusiastic and accomplished participation in Concert Band, Marching Band, and Jazz Band.
During his college career in Frostburg State University, Maryland, Chris continued his participation in Jazz Band and, in addition, was able to host his own program on WFWM radio with much attention to the Ska Music he enjoyed. Christopher graduated from Frostburg with a BA in Communications. Most importantly, though, it was here that he met his beloved Amy, who was to become his wife and life-long partner.
After their marriage in 2001, Amy and Christopher built a wonderful life and family in Hoboken, New Jersey. He enjoyed the supportive role of fatherhood and was an enthusiastic “fan” of all three of his children in academics and sports alike. Nothing gave him greater joy than witnessing their successes. He was proud of his Amy and her successes as well, most recently supporting her in opening her own pilates studio in Hoboken.
Family celebrations were never complete without his insightful discussions and enthusiastic participation. We will always remember the frequent appearance of his beloved, blue tooth adapted, impressive “boom box.” Our Christopher was always ready to share his love of varied types of music with us, from 60s ballads on through many years of wonderful artists.
Christopher Burk leaves behind his adored and devoted wife, Amy (nee Mays), his beloved children, Griffin, Avery, and Emily, as well as his heart broken parents, John and Helga Burk. Chris’s sisters Melissa (Jason) and Stephanie (Sandin), along with their children, Sadie, Paige, Chelsea, Andrew and Allison, are left without their warmhearted and ever-supportive brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. He is also survived by his Mother-in-Law, Judy Mays and her partner, Joe Tamborino, who loved him like their own son. In addition, Chris leaves behind many friends whose memories of his humor, kindness, and encouraging words provide a wonderful balm to our sorrow.
All those impacted by his loss can smile through their tears, fondly remembering touching moments of his guiding hand and love. A Celebration of Christopher’s Life will be held at an appropriate time in the future.
In memory of our beloved Chris, set aside an hour or two and listen to some “tunes” that bring you peace and joy. It would be his wish for us all!
