Clare Jane “Bin” Gippo (1944-2025)

Bin passed away peacefully on October 25th, 2025 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Clare was born in Bronxville, NY on April 21, 1944 to parents George Edward Thompson and Jane Ellen Stringer. She grew up in Connecticut with her two older brothers, Tony and Ted, and her lifelong friend Deirdre, with fond memories of her horse. In her college years she studied art at the Boston Museum School. Bin continued with her artwork while raising her kids in St. Louis, MO. After, she headed to the Southwest and built a humble adobe home in Cerrillos NM, outside of Santa Fe, where she enjoyed the solitude and tranquility of the landscape and continued with her artwork and creative endeavors. She returned to St. Louis later in life to be close to family.

She will be remembered for her sincere kindness, generous nature, and full heart. This extended to her many pets throughout the years, which she cared for as deeply as the humans in her life. She had a rare ability to see the negative in the world for its absurdity, to embrace the silliness and humor of everyday things, and yet simultaneously pursue an intellectual and emotional understanding of a higher consciousness and spirituality. Her unique spirit will live on in our memories and manifests in her beautiful artwork. Primarily a sculptor working in stone, Bin pursued all types of creative and artistic mediums. She unapologetically followed her creative process, wherever it led, confident that creating art and joy was her raison d'être.

She is survived by her children, Jesse (Ella) and Kiva (Stephanie), her grandchildren, Isabel, Clare, Leigha, and Kayla along with many dear friends.

A small, private, family gathering will be held over Thanksgiving. In lieu of flowers please instead help a “starving artist” by purchasing a piece of art that moves you.
