March 15, 1947 - October 7, 2025
Clarissia Brown, 78, of Tampa, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025. Born in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia, she came to the United States in her early twenties with determination and courage, seeking to build a better life.
Clarissia was a woman of many talents—a dedicated nurse, social worker at Catholic Charities, and successful entrepreneur who ran a home nail salon, clothing boutique, and office cleaning business. She was a woman of culture who lived in Europe and spoke multiple languages, her native tongue being Patwa, Spanish, German, and French. In 2001, she graduated with honors and a Master’s in Social Work, ranking in the top 5% of her class.
She will be remembered for her impeccable style, her beautiful smile, and her contagious laugh. Clarissia was an exceptional cook, famous for her pistachio cake, curry chicken, and roti. She loved Christmas, baking late into the night, and filled her immaculately kept home with the music of Rod Stewart, Soca, and classic country.
Clarissia is survived by her son Joseph Tobiere Jr. and his wife, Anita; her daughters, Donelly Tobiere and Sophia Brown-Langdon and her husband Jeremy Langdon; her grandchildren, Major Christopher Tobiere and his wife Kaitlyn, Kierra Tobiere, Atiana McBride-Tobiere, Artenus Dickerson Jr., and Shantel Ervin; 7 great-grandchildren; and many others who loved her. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Victor, her daughter, Joyce Tobiere, and her mother, Ann Rose Vigier Winters.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Brown Memorial Church of God in Christ, 2313 East 27th Ave, Tampa, FL 33605. Visitation with the family will be held one hour before the service.
Clarissa lived life on her own terms—fiercely independent, hardworking, and unforgettable.
