Mr. Claude Aubrey "Bud" Lanier, Jr., age 81, peacefully departed this earthly life on October 5, 2025, in Pilot Point, Texas. Born on October 28, 1943, in Waco, Texas, Bud lived a life marked by faith, generosity, and a fierce love of family.
Bud built a career rooted in service and ingenuity. He was self-employed for many years, owning and operating an automotive shop in Fort Worth where he became known for his mechanical expertise and dedication to helping others. After several years as a technician at Miller's Brewery, Bud opened a welding and fabrication business focused on salvage and repair—ventures that reflected his belief in giving new life to what others might discard. Across all his endeavors, Bud was known not just for his skill but for his willingness to lend a helping hand. He was always ready to share his tools and know-how with those in need of his mechanical expertise.
Bud had a heart for the homeless and downtrodden, often going out of his way to offer support and kindness to those facing hardship. His generosity was evident in the way he lived each day with compassion and humility.
An avid sports fan, Bud was a huge supporter of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. He found great joy on the golf course, spending countless hours playing the game he so enjoyed. Bud loved animals, rock and roll music, and looking at old cars. His favorite colors were red, white, and blue.
Above all else, Bud trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He believed in the power of prayer, and he looked forward to seeing his loved ones again in heaven.
Bud is survived by his three sons: Mark Lanier and wife, Amy, of Pilot Point, Scott Lanier of Pilot Point; and Damon Kendall and wife, Vikki, of Fort Worth; two sisters: Joy Martin and husband, Richard, of Cleburne and Vicki Brown and husband, Gary, of Burleson; one brother, Mark Lanier and wife, Lana, of Fort Worth; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by his father, C. A. Lanier; his mother, Ellen Padgett Lanier; and one niece, Lisa Franklin.
A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. May the many good memories of Bud bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
