Clifton Dabney Mack,
March 8, 1951- August 26, 2025
Clifton (Cliff) passed away in his long-time home in Atlanta, GA due to complications related to shingles.
Cliff was born in Washington DC, the only child of Emma Rebecca Mack and Clifton E. Mack. The family moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1959 and eventually settled in Kettering, a small, and idyllic city adjacent to Dayton.
Cliff attended a number of universities, pursuing art, business, I, and eventually mastering in psychology. He worked in public health, using his degree to help people with addiction for several years, and later moved to training businesses how to incorporate technology into their daily operations. Cliff also worked in marketing for various IT corporations.
Cliff met and married Kristina L. Ernst (Kris) in Atlanta. Kris, a diabetic, worked for the CDC, in charge of Diabetes Education. During Cliff and Kris's more than 30 years of marriage, Kris continued to work, accumulating numerous accolades and honors despite her compromised health.
Cliff's mother, Emma, lived by herself in Kettering Ohio. When her health started to fail, Cliff immediately fetched her and brought her to live with he and Kris. Tending to both women's growing needs, Cliff quit his IT job and started his own business in webpage design at home:
The house was modest and space was tight. To minimize tensions, Cliff knocked out walls, hung curtains and doors, rearranged furniture, doing everything he possibly could to provide a comfortable and supportive environment for both Kris and Emma. So selfless was his effort,
Cliff ended up with his desk and shelves in the corner of his mother's room.
Emma died in 2002 at home with Cliff sitting by her side. Kris succumbed to diabetes several years later, also with the comfort of Cliff by her side.
This is who Clifton Dabney Mack was. Generous, persistent, innovative, loyal. Cliff not only loved helping people, he deferred his own needs and dreams to do so. Cliff will be sorely missed indeed.
