Clyrene Belle “Cly” Gorham (Phifer), age 83, of Santa Clarita, California. The daughter of Clyde and Bobbie Phifer passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025.
Born on September 26, 1942, in San Fernando, California, Clyrene was a lifelong Californian whose roots ran deep in the communities she called home. Raised in the warmth of Southern California, she eventually settled in Newbury Park, where she spent most of her life creating a nurturing and welcoming home for her family. While she lived in a few other places, including Idaho and Camarillo, she later called Santa Clarita her home.
Clyrene was a devoted mother to three children: Rick Ayres, Tracey Gorham, and Cheri Anderson. Her love and dedication extended across generations as she embraced her role as grandmother to Leah Winger, Danny Ayres, Haley Silverman, Chase Anderson, Blake Anderson, Scarlett Gorham-Tomlinson, and great-grandmother to Charlotte Winger, Ben Winger, and Abbie Winger, as well as Ledger Silverman. Her family was the heart of her world, and she took great pride in their lives and accomplishments.
Earlier in life, Clyrene was married to James Ayres. Then, in 1965, she married the late Bill Gorham. Although they eventually divorced after raising two children, they later became close friends and roommates, supporting each other in their later years. Clyrene cared for Bill faithfully through his illness, accompanying him to appointments and ensuring he was never alone.
Those who knew Clyrene will remember her for her kindness, gentle spirit, and selfless heart. She had a warmth that made everyone feel at home in her presence. Whether through a thoughtful word or a simple act of care, she left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
May her memory bring peace and comfort to those who carry it forward.
