Craig Alan Howles passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at his home in Collinsville, CT, surrounded by his loving family. Craig was born in 1955 to Charles and Virginia Howles in Jamestown, New York. At the age of 9 he moved with his family to Camillus, NY, where he lived until leaving for college in 1973, subsequently graduating from SUNY Binghamton. After living in the Saratoga, NY region for several years, he relocated to Connecticut where he lived until his death. Craig spent the majority of his professional career in the field of computer programming at Harte Hanks.

Craig was a man of strong principles, guided by quiet conviction and a steady sense of purpose. He found his greatest joy in family love and togetherness, and simple pleasures. A sports enthusiast, an avid reader, a master of the Saratoga Race Track who delighted in sharing his know-how, a Sudoku devotee and numbers man, a lover of nature, and always, a competitor at heart—especially when cards were involved. Being "Grandpa" was one of his greatest joys—he treasured time with his grandchildren, delighting in their laughter, their teasing exchanges, and the special bond they shared. Loyal and dependable, he stood by those he cared for without hesitation. Integrity shaped everything he did, and his word was always true. Though modest in
manner, he had a lighthearted sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him.

Craig was pre-deceased by his life-inspiring parents, who instilled in him his unwavering loyalty and devotion to those he loved. He is survived by his cherished wife Dianne (Grover), his adoring daughter Julia Johnson and husband Henry, and his three grandchildren, Eliza, Caroline and Phipps; his siblings Jill Rech, Jeff Howles and wife Kee, and Karen Howles Boehm and husband David; his sister-in-law Laurie Johnson and husband Mark. Craig was revered by his 14 nieces and nephews, and his 13 great-nieces and great-nephews. All hold his memory dear to their hearts.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Vincent Funeral home in Canton.

A private memorial service will be held, followed by a celebration of Craig's life at a later date. Donations in Craig's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or Breakthrough T1D.
