Send Flowers
Craig Kercheval Zane, 94, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Burke, Virginia. Born on September 3, 1931, in Boston, Massachusetts, Craig lived a life marked by dedication to public service, intellectual pursuit, and deep devotion to his family.

Craig pursued higher education with distinction, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University and a Master of Arts from Syracuse University. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a meaningful career in public service. He spent many years working with the Department of Energy, where he was known for his commitment to responsible governance and his unwavering integrity.

Throughout his life, Craig remained active and engaged in both mind and body. He was an avid tennis player and hiker who found joy in the outdoors. His love of travel took him to many corners of the world, enriching his perspective and deepening his appreciation for diverse cultures. At home, he enjoyed the strategic challenge of bridge and the camaraderie it brought.

Craig was a loving father and devoted husband, always eager to lend a hand whenever possible. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ginny Garretson; his daughter, Lorna Coleman; and his son, Rod Zane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Rollin Zane and Frances Zane.

A man of thoughtful conviction, Craig was active with the Unitarian Universalists, finding community and purpose through shared values and service.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Craig’s memory.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on October 17, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM at Leesburg Cemetery, 10 Station Road, Leesburg, New Jersey
