Danny Lee Dean

Danny "Coach" Dean, 76, passed away on October 27, 2025, in Dinwiddie, Virginia. Born on January 13, 1949, in Russell County, Virginia, Danny lived a life marked by devotion to family and a deep love for football.

He served honorably in the United States Army until his discharge in March 1975, exemplifying steadfast commitment and integrity throughout his military service.

Danny was a loving husband to his wife of 56 years, Denny. He was a devoted father to their five children: Lisa Young (Gregory), Tracy Dean (Lori), Julie Johnson (Darrell), Phillip Dean, and Raymond Dean (Annie). He took great pride in his role as grandfather to Cody, Joseph, Thomas, Lexi, Wesley, Collin, James, Emily, Breanna, Corbin, Caiden, Logan, and Kaylee; and great-grandfather to Trace and Austin.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles Henry, Bobby, Jerry, and Ricky; and his brother-in-law William "Bill" Johnson. He is survived by his cherished siblings Helen (Bill), Jimmy (Brenda), Faye, and Debbie (Keith).

Known affectionately as “Coach Dean,” Danny dedicated many years to mentoring young athletes through little league football. His influence extended beyond the game—he instilled values of perseverance and integrity that left a lasting impact on those he coached.

Outside of coaching, Danny enjoyed fishing, watching football, and cheering for the Detroit Lions. He found joy in simple pleasures and treasured time spent with family during gatherings filled with laughter.

Danny was a dedicated father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, mentor, and friend. His legacy lives on through the generations of family who carry forward the values he held dear.
