David Manuel Moses “Lil David” DeCorte, 40, passed away unexpectedly on September 26, 2025, in Onalaska, Washington. Born on December 14, 1984, in Portland, Oregon, David lived a life rooted in faith, heritage, and a profound connection to the natural world.
A graduate of Battle Ground High School, David went on to establish D's Custom Contracting. Through his work in framing, construction, and concrete, he earned a respected reputation for quality craftsmanship and unwavering dedication. His tireless work ethic left a lasting impression on clients and colleagues alike.
David’s Christian faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He drew strength from prayer and lived with steadfast devotion to the Lord. Deeply proud of his Native American heritage, he identified with the wolf—an emblem of strength, loyalty, and protection—qualities that reflected his own spirit.
He found solace in nature and treasured time spent fishing and camping in places such as Yacolt, Chelatchie, Sunset Falls, Dugan Falls, and Canyon Creek. These landscapes were more than destinations; they were sacred spaces where he felt most at peace.
David was also passionate about amateur Mixed Martial Arts and enjoyed participating in the community through sparring. A skilled cook—especially at the barbecue—he often used his culinary talents to bring people together or lend support to others. Acts of service came naturally to him; whether through food or labor, he gave selflessly.
He is remembered by those who knew him as kind-hearted and generous—a man whose compassion left an enduring impact.
David is survived by his mother Bettina Fitzgerald and father David Fitzgerald; daughters Kinzee & Amelia,; brothers Ryan Singhurst, Eric Fitzgerald, and Marc Fitzgerald; nieces Atticis and Lilith; nephew Orion; aunt Michele Divins and uncle Bob Divins; aunt Gayle McKinley and uncle Lane McKinley; grandparents Anthony and Rebecca DeCorte; cousins Kaylynn, Chantelle, Loni, Ariel, Dylan, and Connor; and many second cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Gail DeCorte, and great-grandfather, Manuel Gouveia.
May David’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him. Rest peacefully, Lil David—you are deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
