David Keith McMahan 64
David went home to be with Jesus peacefully in his sleep during the early morning hours of October 9th.
Born the second of six children, David remained devoted to his two brothers and three sisters throughout his life, cherishing the close bond they shared.
He attended Immanuel Church of Christ, where he celebrated his Confirmation at the age of 13. A natural athlete, David loved playing basketball and football, and he spent much of his free time fishing, hunting, and enjoying the outdoors. A true Southern gentleman, he carried a deep sense of patriotism and love for his country.
David proudly served his country in the United States Army. Stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, he was a decorated member of the Army Airfield Security Force. He was later promoted to the 6th Cavalry Brigade Air Combat Division, where he earned three medals for his exemplary service. While serving with the 1st Armored Division in the 141st Signal Battalion in Ansbach, Germany, David received a total of fourteen awards, medals, and commendations—yet he was most proud of his Good Conduct Medals, which reflected his integrity and character.
David was known for his generosity and quiet acts of kindness. He would give anything to anyone in need, and countless people carry stories of the ways he touched their lives. In his spare time, he found joy and calm in the intricate craft of creating Fabergé eggs, which he gifted to those dear to him. He loved music, laughter, and the simple joy of making others smile.
Throughout his life, David’s faith in the Lord remained steadfast. In his final days, he reflected a deep reverence and readiness to go home. Surrounded by family, embraced by nature, and at peace within his heart, David prepared to meet his Savior.
He found solace in the open air and took great pride in tending the ninety acres along the Ohio River, a place he often described as where his soul felt most at peace.
David is survived by his wife, Andrhea, his parents Chris and Bonnie, his children, Jeremy, Joshua, Ben and Hannah, and his many grandchildren. Also his brothers and sisters, Steven (Lisa); Paul (Gabby); Kim (Richard Chapman); Laura (Philip) and Katy (Mike) his many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
The family will host a gathering Saturday October 18th at 4pm Newsong Christian Church 9310 Old Henry Road 40245
