David Lee Newell, aged 84, passed away on September 22, 2025, in Woodland, CA. Born on May 3, 1941, David was known for his straightforward, honest, and caring nature, especially towards those he respected, including his beloved wife, Peggy Kathleen Jump Newell.
David proudly served in the U.S. Navy from July 28, 1960, until his honorable discharge on June 4, 1964. His military service was a significant chapter in his life, reflecting his dedication and patriotism.
Following his military service, David embarked on a career as a Dental Technician. He owned and operated Spectrum Dental Lab in Woodland, CA. His commitment to excellence was evident as he ranked high in Continuing Education classes within the dental field. Beyond his professional achievements, David was also a talented creator of jewelry and carvings, skills that showcased his meticulous attention to detail.
David's personal life was enriched by numerous hobbies. He was an enthusiast of archery using a compound bow, and he spent many hours at rifle and gun ranges. An avid fisherman, David also had a passion for music and was active in his younger years with running, transitioning to morning walks as he aged. His handyman skills were often put to good use.
Spiritually, David was a thinker who worshiped in his own way, believing in a higher power without adhering to organized religion.
David is survived by his wife, Peggy, and his niece, Cathy Cline (Andy) of Naples, FL; step-brother Justice Percell (Vienna, Virginia); sister-in-law Patricia Holmes (Mystic, CT); brother-in-law Philip Jump (Roseville, CA) along with numerous in-law relatives. He was preceded in death by the woman who raised him, and loved him, Rachell Percell, and his aunt, Mickie Barrett as well as two brothers-in-law Donald Wilson Jump and Dennis Laurel Jump.
At David's request, no plans for a celebration of life have been arranged. Contributions in his memory can be made to Folds of Honor, or towards brain cancer research at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento, CA, reflecting his lifelong support for meaningful causes.
