David Bryant Nolan, Jr., 86, of Oswego, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Born on December 24, 1938, in West Virginia, he was the only child of David and Hazel Nolan.

David proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1959. His time in the military reflected his lifelong values of discipline, service, and dedication—qualities he carried with him throughout his life.

On September 5, 1959, David married Rita J. Hupe in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Together they recently celebrated 66 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter and unwavering devotion.

After starting his family, David returned to school and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Wisconsin. Early in his career, he worked for the Boy Scouts of America before joining Amoco Corporation, which brought the family to Naperville, Illinois. He remained with Amoco until his retirement in 1995. Always eager to stay active, David later taught driver's education and worked as a machinist. Never one to stop learning, David also went back to college to earn his Master's Degree in American History.

He was a devoted member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Naperville and was active in numerous clubs and organizations throughout his life. These included Toastmasters, Street Rodders of America, Chicago Light Artillery Battery A, Naper Squares dancing club, and more. David was also a proud Boy Scout volunteer, giving over 50 years of service to the organization.

A lifelong learner and history enthusiast, David loved visiting Civil War battlefields, attending car shows, and expanding his collections of model cars, Boy Scout memorabilia, and history books. He was an avid reader with an endless curiosity and a passion for discovery.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Rita; his three children, Brian Nolan, Lorelei Hahne and Chad Nolan; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Hazel Nolan.

David will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, humor, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and community. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Timothy Lutheran Church 1313 N. Mill St. Naperville, IL on Saturday November 8th with visitation at 11:00 AM and Memorial Service at 12:00 PM

Following the memorial service, a private luncheon will be held for family and invited guests.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church in David's honor.
