David A Thorpe, Sr

David A Thorpe, Sr (Dave), 91, of Brandon, FL entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 14, 2025 with his loving wife and family by his side. Born in 1934 in Greensboro, NC, he graduated high school in Jamestown, N.C. He received his degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. In 1958, he married the love of his life, MaryEllen, in Raleigh, NC. They moved to the Tampa Bay area in 1961 where they raised 3 children and enjoyed the blessing of 3 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Dave won a multitude of awards as an Engineer over the span of his professional career, and became an award winning Master Gardener in his retirement. Dave was a faithful Christian and served for many years in his church. Known as Dede to his family, he was full of love, generosity, integrity, kindness, and often mischievousness, although the sparkle in his eyes always gave him away.
Dave is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Mary Ellen, his children Kelly Schubert (Glen), David Thorpe Jr. (Kim), Shannon Albert (Mike) , three granddaughters Jessica Sanders (Peter), Rachael Schubert, and Melody Schubert, and one great granddaughter Adelyn Schubert.
Forever loved, he will be forever missed until we see him again in the heavenly realms. A private Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held. Please contact family members for details.
