Deborah Nevins

1937 - 2025

Deborah DeVere Nevins (née Rosetta), age 87, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, in Roseville, California.

Born on August 29, 1937, in Somerville, Massachusetts, Debbie lived a life marked by determination, warmth, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Her journey from humble beginnings to a distinguished career in the insurance industry is a testament to her resilience and drive.

Debbie began her professional path in a modest role but quickly proved herself as a formidable force in the insurance field. Her talent and tenacity led her to rise through the ranks at Saylor & Hill in Oakland, where she became a key figure within the company. Later, she relocated to Connecticut to complete her career with Sedgwick/Marsh & McLennan Company, ultimately retiring in 2000 as Executive Vice President. Her accomplishments not only broke barriers but also paved the way for others who followed.

Beyond her professional achievements, Debbie was known for her vibrant personality and generous spirit. Always the hostess and a friend to everyone she met, she had an innate ability to make people feel welcome and valued. Her home was often filled with laughter, great conversation, endless glasses of wine, and the comforting presence of someone who truly cared.

Quite possibly the only thing greater than Debbie’s love for spy novels and dancing was her love for her family: her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Shelley DeVere of Lincoln, CA; daughters Dena DeVere Doherty of Walnut Creek, CA and Stacey DeVere Archie and son-in-law Dalton Archie of Roseville, CA; as well as grandchildren Ian DeVere, Joshua Strang, and Natalie DeVere. In addition to her loving niece, Lisa Rosetta and her children and grandchildren, nephew, Mark (Jane) Rosetta and their children and three step-children Beth Delacour (Mitch), Mary Sklarski (Larry) and Tom Nevins (Cassandra). She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert Nevins; her devoted parents Charles Payson and Julia Rosetta; and her cherished brother and sister-in-law, Payson Stephen and Marie Rosetta.

Debbie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The wisdom she shared and the love she gave so freely will continue to resonate through generations.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
