Deborah Jean Volatta (née Poinan), age 70, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, in Apollo Beach, Florida. Born on April 5, 1955, in Rochester, New York, she lived a life shaped by faith, creativity, and dedication to her family.
She was the daughter of the late William and Jilda Poinan. Deborah graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School and earned a degree from the Rochester Business Institute. Throughout her life, she owned several small businesses, demonstrating resilience and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
A devout Christian, Deborah was deeply involved in her church community and found fulfillment in ministering to others. Her faith guided her daily life and brought comfort to those around her.
Deborah enjoyed a wide range of interests. In her younger years, she took pleasure in horseback riding and ice skating. Later in life, she found joy in boating and spending time outdoors. She also expressed herself through singing and other artistic pursuits that enriched the lives of those who knew her.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons: Ryan Flaherty and his wife Melanie Flaherty, along with their children Brooks and Shea; and Sean Flaherty and his wife Michelle Flaherty, with their children Cavan and Harper. Her role as a mother and grandmother brought her great pride.
