Send Flowers
Deborah Ann Simon (Maxey), age 74, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Debbie was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on April 10, 1951, as the eldest child to Edward and Alberta Maxey. Debbie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, dog whisperer, and friend. Her life was a beautiful reflection of her love for God, her deep devotion to family, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Simon, Jr.; children, Kristin Hickman, Aimee Simon, Kelly Jernigan (Daniel), and Shaun Simon (Amber); grandchildren, Jordan Ramsey (Michael), Justin Hickman, Brady Jernigan, Beau Jernigan, Belle Jernigan, Carson Hickman, Violet Simon, Talon Simon, and Chloe Jernigan; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Ramsey and Logan Ramsey. She is also survived by her mother, Alberta Maxey; and siblings, Linda Maxey, Teresa Hennen, Michael Maxey (Sarah), Craig Simon, Steve Simon (Kim) and Rick Simon (Diane); Her Dog, Pepper and Cat, Patches. Unfortunately, her black German Shepherd, Bailey, did not survive the grieving process and passed on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Debbie loved the Lord and lived her faith through compassion, grace, and quiet strength. She was the heart of her family—always putting others before herself and finding joy in every moment spent together. A proud Tennessean, cheering on the Vols every fall—and had an eye for beauty and comfort that made her home a welcoming place to all who entered. Her love for home decorating reflected how she nurtured not only spaces but souls, making every space she touched feel warm and inviting from outside to inside of her home.

Known affectionately as a "dog whisperer," Debbie had a deep bond with her furry companions. Her gentle nature, patience, and intuitive love for animals made her home a haven for her beloved dogs and a comfort to everyone who entered.

A service to celebrate Debbie's life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Anglican Church of the Redeemer located at 104 McBrien Road, Chattanooga, TN with a reception to follow.

Though she is no longer with us in body, Debbie's spirit lives on through the lives she touched. Her faith, love, and legacy will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
