Send Flowers Plant A Tree
Debra "Debbie" Wilcox, age 70, passed away on October 14, 2025, after facing lung cancer with the same grit, honesty, and sense of humor that carried her through life. When she was diagnosed in 2024, she simply shrugged and said, "Those cigarettes were sure stupid of me..." — always blunt, true, and just a little bit funny.
Born on February 3, 1955, in Portland, Oregon, Debbie spent most of her life in Beaverton, where she built a life centered around her sons. A proud single mom, she worked as a teacher's aide in the Beaverton School District's Special Education program, sharing her patience and kindness with countless students. She was also a Master Gardener with grand dreams for every patch of soil, and a talented cake baker and decorator who could pull magic from a mixing bowl — especially when baking for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her two sons, Matthew and Jarred, whom she would have done anything for; her daughter-in-law, Melissa, and two grandchildren, Parker and Ivy, who shared her sweet tooth; and her two sisters, Susan Graham (David) and Marilyn Coryell (Jack) with whom she loved to laugh with. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Mead and Olivia Gongliewski; her brother, Steven Mead; and her beloved dogs — Dutches, Maggie Mae, Scarlett, Winston, and Brewster. We're certain they were all waiting at the door, tails wagging and begging for treats.
Her family invites you to remember Debbie with laughter, flowers from your garden, kisses from your dog, and dessert before dinner.
May she rest easy — never again having to answer the question:
"Is it suppertime?"
A private family service will be held at a later date to honor her memory.
