Denise D. Levingston

Denise D. Levingston was born on June 24, 1957, to Curtis Levingston and Yvonne King Taylor-Levingston in Gary, Indiana. After enduring a lengthy illness, Denise transitioned to be with our Heavenly Father on September 22, 2025.A lifelong resident of both Gary and Indianapolis, Denise completed her formal education at Roosevelt High School, graduating with the class of 1976.
From a young age, Denise accepted Christ as her Savior. She was a devoted member of the Tree of Life Missionary Baptist Church for many years prior to relocating to Indianapolis. In her free time, Denise cherished moments spent with her family and friends. Her love, kindness, and compassion profoundly impacted the lives of many. She lived her life radiating warmth through her smile and caring heart, bringing joy and laughter to everyone she encountered.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Curtis and Yvonne Levingston; her sisters, Cynthia Shorts and Sheila Passomore; her brothers, Bernard Taylor and Charles Levingston; and her maternal grandparents, George and Mae Frances Carroll.

She is survived by her only child, Tennille Melton, and her son-in-love, Frank Wilderness III; five grandchildren, Tarik Wilderness, Tre'von Wilderness, Tenashea Melton, Franchesca Wilderness, and Jaydin Wilderness; one great-granddaughter, Serenity Lovings; one nephew, Eric Passmore; one niece, Lasha Likens; five great-nephews; and three great-nieces; as well as three special friends, Brenda Taylor, Fannie Hoskins, and Daphine Jenkins, along with a multitude of other family and friends.
