Dennis J Manning

1947 - 2025

Dennis Manning, known affectionately by many as "DJ", passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on September 27, 2025, in the warm, loving arms of his family. He was born on October 20, 1947, in South Weymouth, Massachusetts, to the late John J. Manning Sr. and Marion L. (DelPrete) Manning
Dennis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be missed by his wife, Lynda, his son, Patrick Manning, and his daughter, Saliema Manning-Phillips. He also leaves behind his four grandchildren, Jessika Phillips, Jessica Manning, Abigail Manning, and Audrey Manning, as well as seven great-grandchildren. His five sisters and four brothers, Ann Marie Manning Olson and George Olson, Richard Manning, Robert and Kathy Manning, Elizabeth Manning, John Manning Jr., Francis Manning and Ruth Gilmore, and Marian Manning and Robert Hindy will miss their beloved brother. Several nieces and nephews also survive him. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, John J. Manning Sr. and Marion L. (DelPrete) Manning, his son, James Manning, and his son-in-law, Chad Phillips.
Known for his tough exterior, those who knew him best were privileged to see his softer side. His life was defined by his love and devotion to his wife, his family and his passion for thoroughbred horses. On his free time, he enjoyed riding his Harley alongside his brother Fran and son Patrick and restoring his 1970 Chevelle.
Throughout his life, Dennis etched a name for himself as a gifted thoroughbred horse trainer. His affinity for horses was not just a profession, but a lifelong passion that he pursued with dedication, grit, and love.
The void left by Dennis's passing will be felt by many, but his legacy will live on, not only through his family but also those he mentored throughout his life, and in the hearts of those he touched with his generosity and kindness. His life serves as a reminder that it is not the toughness of our exterior but the tenderness of our hearts that truly defines us.
Dennis's life was one well-lived, characterized by passion and the love he had for his wife, his soulmate Lynda, and the love for his family. The zest he had for life was contagious to all around him. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us.

To the world you may have been one person but, to us YOU were the whole world.
