Dolores M Brown passed away October 13, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas after living a full and enriching life.
Dolores was born November 22, 1934 in a small-town farm in Washington State. She studied hard during her younger years and did well at school. She always loved all animals and was a pet owner many times during her long life, dogs and especially cats! As an older child and later teenager she faced some difficult times but always persevered and found reasons to laugh.
As an adult Dolores raised five children quite nearly single-handedly. She worked hard, always finding ways to provide, put food on the table, and taught her children the value of standing on your own two feet. She believed that nothing in life is given to you and you must earn it. Although often tired, she sent her children to church, and taught them to believe in the Lord and pray.
While sometimes a strict disciplinarian, she also showered her children with love through acts of service and quality time. She truly embodied adaptation, courageousness, and strength.
Dolores had a wonderfully wicked sense of humor and an infectious laugh throughout her life. She loved playing cards and telling jokes, sometimes laughing so hard she'd be out of breath along with those around her. When problems arose she found communication combined with either mint chocolate chip ice cream, fried BBQ-sauced chicken, cottage cheese dip, or a can of Coke quickly solved dilemmas (a tactic she used frequently with her grandchildren).
Professionally Dolores is remembered as a waitress, a nurse working in both nursing homes and in state mental health hospitals. She found great accomplishment helping others both professionally and personally. Her empathy radiated as she would give anything to help another; and frequently did, whether her grandchildren, preferring to focus on who needed the most help at the time, adopting stray cats and had a hard time turning them away. Caring for others was one of her life's missions.
Her proudest accomplishments in life however will always be her family. Dolores was an amazing example of resilience and power to her children, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, and her great-great grandchildren! Her posterity is so numerous even she had trouble counting exactly how many and not even her older children can easily count them. Like the promise to Abraham in Genesis 22:17 "I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore".
She is preceded in death by both parents and her eldest Son Richard. She is survived by two sisters, four children, and near countless posterity.
