Donald Agee Judd

1935 - 2025

Donald Agee Judd passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2025, from congestive heart failure. He spent the last 26 hours of his life in hospice at Casey House in Rockville, Maryland.

Born on August 5, 1935, the second of four children of William Joseph Judd, II, and (Mary) Virginia (Agee) Judd, he was raised in Merrick on Long Island. In 1960, Don married Dianne Joyce (Bauman) Judd and they were married for 57 years.

As a high school student, Don dreamed of becoming a Latin teacher and he always loved both the Latin language and Roman history. After high school, he was drafted into the Army and then spent his career as a draftsman. Among his more famous projects was the skylight of the East Building of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and in his last years he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family (afternoons with his great-grandson, Jamie Quattrini, sitting on his lap, were particularly happy times). A lifelong reader and lover of classical music, he played tennis when he was younger and throughout his life, he painted watercolors of people and places he found memorable. In midlife and later years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and had a particular fondness for Italy. After Don retired with Dianne to Maryland, they spent time exploring the Eastern Shore and other scenic spots in the area.

A gifted storyteller with a terrific sense of humor, Don will be remembered for his gentle manner, his dapper dress style, and his sweet smile.

He is survived by his two daughters Elizabeth (and son-in-law Michael Wilder) and Kathy (and son-in-law Kevin Kylus); his four grandchildren, Isabel, Sam, Claire, and Annika (Annie); and his two great-grandchildren, Jamie and Mia.
