Donna Sue Kantor (née Steele), age 81, passed away on October 17, 2025, in Evanston, Illinois.

Born on December 8, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Donna brought warmth, creativity, and a vibrant spirit to every chapter of her life. She studied at the Goodman School of Drama, where her love for storytelling and the arts took root and flourished.

Donna began her professional journey as a copywriter for Lee King & Partners. Her talent for communication and her keen eye for potential led her to a successful career spanning over two decades as a Talent Recruiter for advertising agencies. She then transitioned into real estate with Coldwell Banker, where she continued to connect with people and help them find their place in the world.

Donna's life was rich with passions that reflected her boundless creativity and curiosity. A lifelong music lover, she found joy in singing and playing music—especially alongside her beloved husband Norman. She took guitar lessons at the Old Town School of Folk Music and delighted in sharing melodies with those around her. Her love of interior design revealed itself in beautifully curated spaces that reflected both elegance and personality. A Scrabble aficionado and avid reader, Donna had a sharp mind and a deep appreciation for language.

She was also a devoted storyteller and history buff who cherished learning about the past as much as she loved sharing tales from it. Her sense of humor was ever-present, often lighting up rooms with laughter. Politically active and always engaged with the world around her, Donna remained curious throughout her life—a quality that endeared her to many.

Her chic sense of style was unmistakable; she carried herself with grace and flair that left an impression wherever she went. But perhaps most memorable was the warmth she extended to others—sweet, caring, lovely—qualities that defined how she lived each day.

Donna treasured time spent with friends and family. She especially loved attending performances and concerts by her grandchildren—moments that brought her immense pride and joy.

She is survived by Norman Kantor, her loving husband; daughter Robin Shapiro; son Zack Kantor; son-in-law Harlan Shapiro; grandsons Aaron Shapiro and Bennett Shapiro; and granddaughter Maddie Shapiro.

She was preceded in death by Dorothy Steele Gephart and Edward Steele.

May Donna's memory bring comfort to all who knew her and continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
